Educational Support

Despite the progress we have made in building Primary and Junior High Schools in the community to improve access to education for all, there are still challenges preventing children from going to school and completing their primary education.
Our significant problems persist in the form of critical shortages of classroom facilities, learning materials, and other forms of support to encourage especially young girls to stay in school.
In addition, our adolescent girls are usually unable to complete their primary education due to poverty, gender inequality, and teenage pregnancy. As a result, the usual number of years of schooling that the poorest girls from rural areas aged 20 to 24 can conquer is about four years compared to 13 years for girls from affluent homes in urban areas.
The recent introduction of free secondary education attempted to curtail high dropout rates in Ghanaian schools. However, a high percentage of children do not transition from primary to secondary education each year because their parents cannot afford other associated costs of education.
This is a quote from a famous Ghanaian Sociologist and Educator, Dr. Kwegyir Aggrey, who once said,
“The surest way to keep people down is to educate the men and neglect the women. If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but you educate a woman, you educate a whole nation. ”
